Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They help websites function correctly, remember your preferences, and provide analytical data to improve the service.
PocketNode uses a minimal set of cookies strictly necessary for website operation. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies.
2. Cookies We Use
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to function. They cannot be disabled.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
pn_lang |
Stores your selected language preference | 1 year |
cf_clearance |
Cloudflare security cookie (bot protection, set by infrastructure) | 30 min – 1 day |
2.2 Session Storage (Not Cookies)
The PocketNode web application (admin dashboard at app.pocketnode.org) uses browser sessionStorage for authentication state. This data is not a cookie, is not transmitted to third parties, and is cleared automatically when you close the browser tab.
2.3 Cookies We Do NOT Use
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
- Advertising or retargeting cookies
- Social media tracking pixels (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
- Third-party profiling cookies
3. Cloudflare Infrastructure Cookies
PocketNode's website is delivered through Cloudflare's network for performance and security. Cloudflare may set cookies (cf_clearance, __cf_bm) as part of bot protection and DDoS mitigation. These are set by infrastructure, not by PocketNode, and are governed by Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
4. Managing Cookies
4.1 Browser Controls
You can manage, disable, or delete cookies through your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Disabling the pn_lang cookie means your language preference will not be remembered between visits. Disabling cf_clearance may affect your ability to access the website if Cloudflare determines your connection requires verification.
4.2 Language Preference Cookie
The language preference cookie (pn_lang) is set only after you actively select a language from the language switcher on our website. No cookie is set on first visit without your action.
5. Do Not Track
PocketNode respects the Do Not Track (DNT) browser signal. Since we do not use tracking or analytics cookies, enabling DNT has no additional effect on our cookie usage.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies changes or as applicable law requires. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
